>> mau mau

aku sering jauh dariMu
terkadang di jiwa
si hati persoalan

pabila aku dekat, dekat
aku di tarik kembali
perlahan, tapi pasti

aku mau dekat
mau..
mau..

tatkala imanku kuat, hatiku kukuh..
aku tahan
aku mampu

tapi tatkala aku lemah, bingung
aku ditarik kembali
perlahan, tapi pasti

aku mau dekat
mau..
mau..

Dia

Salam,

I don't particularly have a role model. So being the second last of the sibling, I always look up to my older abang and kakak (walaupun perangai diorang cam senget je sebenarnya):

-Kak Azreen (the genius whiz in my family, tu piala besaq2 kat umah hat dia la tu)
-Kak Vovi (my kakak ipar-an avid reader like my Pa and Kak Azreen, she always have a thing to say about, well mostly everthing!)
-Kak Asmah (our own Jamie Oliver)
-and my abang poyot (emm, my abang poyot lah!)

But when one day my pa forced me to watch this one particular interview of a person in the tv, I was dumbstruck- awed to be more precise.

There in the tv was this plump lady in her early 40s talking passionately about what she do. I didn't exactly remember what she said, but I remembered when she open her mouth and speaks, she got my full attention on her.

She had a soft voice yet very firm. She speaks of her passion of humanitarian work, her husband's support (you see, she's always out of town flying here and there) and her children's acceptance of what she do. I remembered liking the way she speaks english. Clear, simple and you get the message across. Tak gedik2 sok nak cakap macam orang putih. One thing that amazes me, she's a woman. A muslim woman. ~girl power wei! hiks~

That night, I searched more about her.

She is Dr. Jemilah Mahmood , co founder of MERCY Malaysia.

Today I found out she's leaving MERCY and appointed a post in the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) at NY.

I'm sad, yes. But at the same time I'm happy for her. She's one amazing woman, that you can't stop trying to be one. She is after all more or less the reason Im still taking medicine.

So to Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood, terima kasih. :)

"If I could reach up and hold a star for every time a person we have helped made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand"

Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood
I wish I could too

One day one day
That one day will come
InsyaAllah
